In Search of the Owl
By Jean Sidinger
...The book speaks intimately to the reader in ways that reach to the heart -- particularly to those who have experienced the loss of close relatives and are finding their way through the grieving process toward a more hopeful future...

Amazon 5-Star Review
Jean Sidinger has done a remarkable job of sharing a very personal experience in a universal enough way for anyone to relate. Recounting the first year of mourning her dad, the author takes the reader with her in the travel from anguish, to acceptance, to a heightened awareness of both herself and the natural world. This memoir not only provides solace to those who have walked that long, solitary path to peace but honors her father's memory. Seems like a father-daughter relationship with a connection that cannot be severed.

Amazon 5-Star Review
This was just the book I needed in my search for peace surrounding the recent deaths of my parents. Experiencing with the author all the stages of her loss allowed me to tap into my own awareness and build self-compassion for this difficult journey during pandemic times. I found her Nature-infused reflections soothing, illuminating, and inspiring...so much so that I bought the book for my two sisters. We have been using it to process and heal together while physically distanced. Highly recommend!

Seeking a way through her grief, she turns to the natural world, for which she and her father shared a deep, abiding love.
In her compelling memoir In Search of the Owl, Jean turns her keen eye on herself and on the world outside, sharing the initial desperation of loss, the aching void created by her father's death…and the eventual acceptance that follows.
